Best in the Buns is brought to you

by Josh Eddy and April Canlas Eddy!

 

In late 2015, Josh and April were the subjects of the most LA meet-cute ever at a Sunday morning yoga class in North Hollywood. They locked eyes in a downward facing dog (awkward...)

and decided to get to know each other a little better after class.

 

Instead of going for an après-savasana green juice (gross), the two headed over to Big Wangs

and immediately bonded over eight hours of football, baskets of chicken wings, curly fries, and

multiple pitchers of craft beer. Once they learned that their many mutual proclivities included

devouring delicious pucks of meat encased in bread, their fate was truly sealed. 

 

After almost two years and countless burger dates later,

Josh and April were married (yay!) and Best in the Buns was born.

 

Today, they spend their time traversing the freeways of Southern California in search of new food adventures, and going for long romantic runs along the beach because, well, burgers.

Josh has loved burgers since high school, when he would crush

McDonald's cheeseburgers during lunch on $0.35 Cheeseburger Wednesdays.

 

Today, Josh's tastes are a little more refined. He dislikes a boring bun and bland burgers without colorful toppings. His favorite burgers are loaded with powerful flavors and usually are topped with a fried egg. While he loves a smash-burger, he also enjoys Juicy Lucys, wagyu beef, 50/50 blends  and

anything fusion. Josh awards extra points for fun ambiance and anything that adds to the WOW factor. Bring on the spectacle burgers!

April "Extra Napkins" Canlas Eddy

 

When venturing out to try a new burger, a well-executed take on the classic double cheeseburger is the way to April's heart - Smashed meat seasoned with salt and pepper, a white bun (bonus points for sesame seeds), melty American cheese, thinly sliced onions, pickles, and burger sauce. Add the veg only if it's super fresh - Hard pass on sad, wilted lettuce and mealy tomatoes! 

 

In her own kitchen, she often experiments with new burger concoctions. Her most notable creation to date is a Thanksgiving Burger, which is made of a stuffing-flavored turkey patty, topped with French fried onions, melted brie, roasted Brussels sprouts, fried sage, and sauced up with a cranberry dijonnaise on a toasted brioche bun.
